The social networking sites seem to be set up to draw people in and spend more time there. Majority of teenager’s n young adults in 21 century visit Facebook everyday and spend an inordinate amount of time on it. They visit Facebook with a simple desire to keep in touch with friend or make new one online, or perhaps to kill the boredom. But then, this desire has been change become an addiction. They allowing hours gone without noticed, the chores to go uncompleted, and even going so far as to ignore family and friends in the actual world. The addictive behaviors on Facebook are a growing problem for many Facebook users, company and society. Here are some constructive ways to avoid or cure this addiction.
1. Recognize the signs and symptoms. Understanding of the problem is very important to verify the patient who suffer from this addiction. Thus, the awareness of the symptoms of the addiction is needed. For example, You wake up and the first thing you do is "check Facebook". And it's the last thing you do at night is one of the common symptoms of FAD.
2. Admit that u addict in social networking sites. Once u recognize some of the sign of this addiction. U must admit that u is addicted in Facebook. U may write down on somewhere that u may see this easily or repeat speak out loud that u have a facebook addiction problem. Admit that u have the addiction is very important because there is no point in trying to beat an addiction if you do not seriously believe that you have one
3. Define your goal on Facebook. Start questioning what you are doing on Facebook. Rather than simply going on Facebook and “falling under its spell”, start consciously determining what you are really getting out of Facebook and using Facebook in a constructive way from personal or professional view.
4. Determini the value of visit Facebook. Identify the benefit and advantage of playing Facebook. For example, Do playing game on Facebook help raise ur monthly income? Do Facebook improve your health and productivity?? This is very important to find out the reason to continue visit Facebook and ensure a brighter usage of Facebook in the future.
5. Make a schedule for Facebook. It is important to know how much time u have been spend on Facebook, because it give you a measure of how bad your addiction is. U may set a schedule to give youself a set of period of time to visit to limit the usage of Facebook and manage you time for daily activities. After a certain period, the schedule can be change to lessen the time spend for Facebook.
6. Turn off email notifications. Email notifications are like little red devils coming to notice you the new news on facebook and attract you to come back and visit Facebook. Turn the notification off, so that you can concentrated with you work, you don’t need to be notified every time when someone sends you a message.
7. Turn your instant message offline. This will help you prevent disturbance from any friend that wish to chat with you to kill their boredom and prevent spend much time chit-chat with your pals without boundary and limit of time. If there is any important, they should give you a call through cell phone.
8. Find a alternative. Think of other things you could be doing. Instead of sitting in front of the computer to visit Facebook and check your friend updates, you could go for a gym, jogging, attend some event or go socialize in the real world. Facebook is not the only way to fulfill your free time or kill your boredom, a lot of other activities can be done to enrich your life too.
The government announce that our time wasting on Facebook addiction are costing the country billion Ringgit Malaysia every year because the productivity is lower due to we spend most of the day on playing Facebook. Stop launching social networking sites or banning these website is not a good idea to prevent the growth in number of Facebook Addiction Disorder. While, a few constructive way can be taken to connect socially via Facebook for lessen the growth of this addiction and prevent using Facebook in an addictive way.
