There are a few impacts of the misuse of the social network. The first impact is the increasing cybercrime rate. Second impact is the affect towards to the national security .
The increasing of the cybercrime rate is one of the impact that caused by the misuse of the social network. Cybercrime is act when a user violates the cyber rules. For example hacking, spamming and online sex. When the usage of the social network has increased this has impact on the social network. Why do I say so? The reason is simple at first there are a few culprits among users who want to exploit the social network because they see social network is a place for them to get revenge, to have fun, and to swagger. This culprit tends to hack another user account so that they can that their private information, using others accounts for their own good. Besides that, hacking people’s accounts can be done by the anyone even someone who didn’t major in information technology. This will lead to the increase of cybercrime. This also will lead to the increase others cybercrime in cheating. For example some users try to cheat others users by saying they won the prize by requesting their personal bank account so that they can bank in the money to you but in reality they win nothing.
Another example is online sex. While in online sex, this activity has been done by some syndicate that’s offer sex service through the internet. Sex service can separated into two forms. The forms is in virtual forms or real forms. This kind of misuse of the social network will caused mental illness in the society
While the second misuse of the social network is bringing the impact to the national security. At first because of propaganda, rumors, and a certain statement can give impact towards the national security. Propaganda and rumors from a certain party, individual and a certain group can provoke conflict in society especially in Malaysia. For example when a certain party try to get their vote for the people they will use a lot of tactics to provoke anger from the people. This will caused demonstration, reformation from the people for example in Thailand, some individual use social network to put their agenda and their propaganda. While in statement, when a certain individual have conflict with another race the person will post some words in their account. Example of a statement is “Cina balik China” or “Melayu babi” this two statement is very a very sensitive statement. This is because Malaysia is a multi race country and this sensitive statement will lead 13 Mei 1969 that once happen in Malaysia.
That’s why it is very important that a person do not misuse the social network
